KELOWNA - The wife of the man mauled in a pit bull attack last week says the dog owners should be punished for letting them run loose.
Arshad Ahmad remains in hospital with severe bites to his arms and hands.
Ahmad, 36, was working alone in an orchard when the two animals attacked him for half an hour, his wife, Shameem Ahmad, said.
He's undergone two surgeries and may endure a third operation to repair injuries to his nerves and veins.
"He's still in a lot of pain. They're watching him for infection," Shameem Ahmad said Wednesday. "They [the owners] should be punished for that. They can't ruin someone's life by letting the dogs go like that."
The RCMP have decided against pursuing criminal charges against two Lake Country men who own the dogs. The regional district is still investigating the May 16 attack and may fine the owners under a municipal bylaw.
