If the SPCA was operating properly we would not need animal activist groups

I am writing to you in response to the letter written by Craig Daniell CEO of the BC SPCA. I am not an animal activist, but merely an animal lover.

While it is commendable that the SPCA has and is making strives to improve their operations to better serve the animals that they have been mandated to protect, I note that it is only within the last few years that these changes have been taking place. During this same time period several “animal activist groups” have been thrown into the spotlight, gaining public recognition. These groups have been holding the SPCA accountable, and look at the results.

From what I understand there is a long way to go, but thank goodness for these groups, comprised of animal lovers that are not paid for their efforts, often involving endless hours and heartbreaks.

If the SPCA was operating properly we would not need animal activist groups and hopefully that day will come sooner rather than later.

What will it take to get rid of the critics?
Please don't take it as 'throwing stones', or 'snapping and snarling'

Mr. Daniell implies that the SPCA has rehabilitated these wild creatures, which is simply not true
