SPCA Hospital Seeks Volunteers for TVNR Day
The SPCA Hospital at 1205 East 7th Avenue in Vancouver is seeking volunteer veterinarians, technologists and other staff to help with "TVNR Day" on Sunday, Feb. 22. TVNR stands for "Trap, Vaccinate, Neuter and Release". Groups and individuals who routinely care for feral cats are invited to bring animals in their care to the hospital for medical examinations, vaccinations, tattoos and neutering. All services will be provided free of charge. New homes will be sought for feral cats who are able to be socialized and the others will be released back to their caregivers. If you can help with this event, please contact Dr. Jamie Lawson at 604-709-4654 or Cathy Lewis at 604-709-4655. Information has been circulated through the BCVMA, but if you know of a veterinarian who can help, please encourage them to participate!

The SPCA's feral spay and neuter day was covered on BCTV and CTV 6:00 news last night. Basically they showed some cats and interviewed Dr. Jamie Lawson, who said among other things, that this will hopefully become an annual event in all communities in B.C. About 18-19 cats arrived, all from Maverick Cats. Most were not feral.

SPCA policy may not be good for animals, but it is good for the SPCA
