Why so little? Why were so many good groups left out?
In Response To: SPCA Feral Spay & Neuter Day ()

The Vancouver SPCA held a free spay and neuter day on Sunday, February 22nd for other groups and organizations wishing to bring in feral cats. Wonderful, but how many groups were contacted, and how does one keep a feral cat in a trap for any length of time? Since this was for one day only, what about the other 364 days when feral cats need assistance?

There are a number of small groups in the Lower Mainland, comprised of volunteers dedicating themselves day after day, year after year, spending their own money and time trying to keep the population of ferals down. These people do the trapping, transport the cats to vet clinics, and pay all medical costs, all this with no funding, no budget, no grants, nothing. So, why all the media hype when the SPCA does 18 or 19?

The problem of ferals or strays reproducing is something that ought to have been addressed by the SPCA years ago. Let’s hope this project is expanded and available year round. The annual toll of healthy animals being killed annually is staggering. Spaying and neutering is an essential component in decreasing the senseless deaths of so many innocent creatures.

SPCA policy may not be good for animals, but it is good for the SPCA
