I live in East Vancouver and in my 4 block walk to the dog park there are at least 5 or 6 dogs

Dear Mayor Campbell and Council,

I am writing to ask that you look closely at the tethering and keeping of unattended dogs in yards here in our beautiful city. Setting up a bylaw to ban this practice is the humane thing to do. I live in East Vancouver and in my 4 block walk to the dog park there are at least 5 or 6 dogs that are in this situation. I see many of these dogs as I walk through the back alleys. They may look healthy, and yes, some do not appear to be lacking food, water, or shelter, but as for human contact, I think not. They are guard dogs, and that is all. If a bylaw was set up to ban this practice I realize that it may be difficult to enforce, but it would make people stop and think, and realize that what they are doing is breaking the law. It is a start and I would love to see our city take this step.
I am sure you have looked at the Animal Advocates website and see the suffering that goes on to "man's best friend."

Please help those who are unable to speak for themselves.

Yours truly,

June Harbottle
Vancouver, BC

Chained dogs living outside, isolated from interaction is cruel and painful to watch

When can we expect to see attention to this issue ?
If the city can find time to spend endless hours on issues such as Off Leash areas

We cannot tolerate a citizenry that allows their dogs to be so mistreated that they become a threat to us all
