Mr Daniell said that "The photos shown were of two isolated incidents several years ago, when SPCA shelters were run by volunteer boards of directors and Lower Mainland shelters did not have on-site managers. "
AAS has had the file on the incident of the Christmas Terrier for over a year. Yaffe's facts are straight and here are some more: The integration of branches under Head Office management happened in November 2001. The incident of the terrier happened at Christmas 2002. So there were no volunteer boards of directors to blame.
And there was a Superintendent who was the Manager so Mr Daniell is playing with words. That man is now managing another branch. In what way is that the "disciplinary action" that this incident deserved? That man was given a three day suspension by Mr Daniell. Mr Daniell again plays with words.
The dog was brought in as a stray and described as literally a skeleton, unable to walk or stand. A volunteer's offer to take it to a vet was declined. Two days later, on Christmas Day, the dog was found lying in its own feces unable to stand, and was taken to the Animal Emergency Clinic by the staff person who finally gave her information to Yaffe after giving it to Mr Daniell met with obfuscation and false excuses. It had to be euthanized for being in "critical distress" (in such extreme pain and suffering that it cannot be saved).
