Petland in 100 Mile House has in their contract that they will take back any pet at any time for any reason

Petland in 100 Mile House has in their contract that they will take back any pet at any time for any reason. Just like shelters do, if an animal is returned and they don’t have room for it they work with all the other stores to find room or they work diligently themselves to find homes for them. That is what they tell me anyway. Now just like anyone no one can fully guarantee because who knows what people do. If the people who bought the pet take it to the pound they are all tattooed and spay/neutered before they leave the shop, which is awesome, unless, like up here, there is no vet around that will do the spays or neuters under six months of age, but then they are given like a $100 certificate towards the spay and neuter. But if they end up in a shelter they can be traced. Of course hoping that the people follow through with the spay and neuter. Human beings are unreliable and selfish, so the thing that impressed me about them, other than the fact they were more than happy to talk to me, is that it appears they are really, really trying to place them in perfect homes like we would. Sandy and this other woman, who I can’t remember her name now, from Calgary who owns the soon to be opened Prince George Petland, said to me that they really want this to work and the animals to be taken care of. But of course it is a business and just like breeders they want money. But I think it has opened up a small window to try to improve things. Remember, I was so very, very angry when I read it, but then again I think my anger is more at breeders because I really don’t think at this time anyone needs to be breeding at all. But we don’t live in a perfect world. In the world that I would like anyway.

This is damage control, but whatever works...and damage control is one of the most effective agents of change
I phoned Petland
Would anyone consider displaying adoptive children in a store front?
How can Petland guarantee?
When I first read the Petland ad I was absolutely furious. Then I spoke with Sandy
I will give Petland this...
How would Petland guarantee no pups would end up in pounds?
Seems to me Petland is operated differently in every city
What we saw at the Port Coquitlam store was appalling *LINK*
