Craig Daniell, in his response to Barbara Yaffe's column, "A prison camp for animals" states in part that the SPCA "shelters have consistent animal care policies to follow" and that these "guidelines are closely monitored." Clearly, something went terribly wrong in the recent incident where a rabbit was dropped by a staff member, resulting in its jaw being fractured in five places. Will disciplinary action be taken against this employee or will a reprimand suffice?
After all, this is an organization that supposedly dedicates itself to animal welfare and those that are in the custody of the SPCA rely on a professional standard of care and knowledgeable staff.
