Again, assessment passed and approved for a home...what where her needs and why were they not met? Did she have a case management done? Was a foster searched for? She was not in the system long was she?
Was this dog aggression based on kennel behavior? Her behavior coming and going on leash to her kennel in a packed shelter? What kennel was she in, how many dogs did she pass that barked at her, and that she barked at along the way? Dogs can get very worked up in the shelter especially if they have to pass many other dogs reacting the same way. This is very sad indeed.
I just re-read her bio, was she even spayed yet? Maybe that is why dogs were so reactive to her and she to them! Females in a shelter can be nasty after giving birth, when in heat, when protecting their pups, or until time passes after a spay, especially after a birth.
From Tina's bio on the SPCA web site: "Tina is a young girl, a recent mom and is a little on the thin side right now. She could definitely use some TLC and some quality time. She is a very loving girl and just melts when you give her affection. She loves pets and hugs and is gentle. She will also give you a doggy kiss in return."
Sounds like she was great with people and considering her age and her past could very well be that with dogs eventually...
Thank you for letting us all know and thank you for being there to ease some of her kennel stress. I am sure she enjoyed her last walk with you very much. Keep walking them and giving them as much as you can, that is what makes the difference in the life of a shelter animal...the hours of your life you share with them help them through each day.
I am so sorry Tina.
