Primates near Duncan BC, a letter to BC SPCA

Dear Mr. Daniell,

I am very pleased to hear that there has been a seizure of the primates and exotics in Kaslo, B.C. Many people were pleased when Mary Lou Troman of the BCSPCA told of her concern for the welfare of these animals last November when she was in Victoria for the BC Consultations. While it has taken over a year to rescue these animals, I understand that this may be the first seizure of this kind, and that your investigation and planning to take these animals into your care would take more time.

I must draw your attention to another primate facility which is located west of Duncan, BC on Highway #18. It is located on a large acreage and there is only a very large sign on the highway pointing the direction where it is located. There is a primate exhibit which caters to tourists but there are reports of other primates which are housed separately on the property and far away from public view. The welfare of these animals and the conditions they live in has been a great concern for a number of years.

Will you please do an investigation? This primate facility is located on a very isolated stretch of highway and only the BCSPCA would have the authority to enter the property to check the animals there.

Again, thank you for what you have done and I hope to hear that you will check the health and welfare of the primates near Duncan BC in the near future.
