Re: CAMP Test Should Be Scrapped

As an adopter who got their dog from the SPCA do you agree with any sort of testing or evaluation of dogs in the shelter?

I have read your posting of the CAMP test questions and to be honest I would have welcomed an evaluation of my dog before I adopted him.

Our dog came into the shelter a stray and so basically the staff had no knowledge of his background, thus it was basically fill out the paperwork and take him home. Well we found that he was dog aggressive, had trouble being handled and had an extremely high prey drive. (I mention this because we have a cat and that led to a lot of problems in our house). My husband and I almost took him back to the SPCA within the first two weeks. I love my dog and I'm glad that we kept him, however it was a very stressful first year and to be very honest I think that some dogs belong in very experienced hands.

I'm sorry, but I feel there are some dogs who have genetic temperament problems that the average adopter has absolutely no clue how to handle. If the SPCA is moving towards evaluating a dog before they are adopted out I don't think that is such a bad idea.

Just my thoughts

SPCA DOG BEHAVIOUR EVALUATION TEST
How is this test scored?
It's not about the test it's about the intent
RSPCA validation, SPCA intention?
Re: SPCA DOG BEHAVIOUR EVALUATION TEST
The test is just going to freak the dog out
