A lot of this doesn't make much sense to me either, but then that's nothing new to me.

Just having read through it all only once, it appears to me that, as usual, priorities are not always in the right place.

For instance, what is THE most primary need to improve the lives of animals in the care of the SPCA ? It is funding.

And the donating public is not likely to become more enthusiastic about donating unless people become aware of serious, practical improvements being made, sheltering and treating animals.

So should the first and main efforts not be directed toward shelter improvement and handling of animals?

There is also talk of creating two "Animal Protection Centres" in BC at NEUTRAL cost. What does this mean?

And how and at what cost are animals being taken there from any one place in the Province? And how are they being looked after ?

There is a perfect opportunity for an emergency shelter right here on the SPCA property in Nanaimo. The old barn, if it were restored, could harbour any kind of animal, Restoration would cost in the region of $ 200 000. (rough guess).

This money could be gained by selling off the two useless (to the SPCA) acres of the property located on the Eastside of the Parkway. I had obtained all preliminary documents for subdivision from City Hall and forwarded them to Head Office a long time ago, but, as far as I know, no further effort had been made toward such procedure.

To my mind, there is much in this "Strategic Plan", which is lacking practicality and common sense. But then, who am I to suggest, or, heaven forbid, criticize.
