If you really loved pit bulls ....

You wouldn't be able to sleep at night thinking about the mistreatment so many of them suffer.

-I don't, and everyone knows it, but if I didn't sleep, I wouldn't be much help to them all crabby and sleep deprived.

You would demand action from all levels of government to eradicate dog fighting rings right here in BC.

-Certainly, and hopefully I, along with alot of the other Pitty owners, have all wrote to the papers/government, read the paper and articles on the computer, and disagreed with what the "owners" of these poor dogs are doing to them. We are doing our best to make our dogs, (although alot of them already are) GCK- Good Canine Citizens, by socializing our dogs and keeping them happy and healthy all the time.

You would fight to shut down backyard breeders.

You would campaign to eliminate the keeping of yard and guard dogs, the fate of too many pit bulls.

-Yet again, a very good point. But I do have to point out, like all RESPONSIBLE breeders say, Pit's (alot of dogs in general) make very bad guard dogs if you just chain them there, it is a learned behavior and signs of a fearful and undertrained Pit Bull.

You'd be able to look beyond the pleasure you take in keeping individuals, to recognize the suffering of the wider community of dogs.

-Not really sure I understand the question, but I'll do my best to answer it. The pleasure of owning a Pit Bull, is possibly one of the greatest pleasure(s) of one's life. Yes, alot of us are aware of the unbelievable torture and suffering of these dogs in the community, and that's why it's great that shelters all over the country are trying to encourage adoption as the first choice.

Finally, you would press for a breed ban as the only way to keep "your breed" out of the hands of criminals and abusers.

-I'm sorry, out of all the good questions, this one had to be included? "If" we pressed for a ban on the dogs, how in the world could we tell them apart of AST, ASBT, Boxers, Bulldogs, or mixes for that matter?! What we need is a better solution, than, "take all the pit bulls, but dont get anymore cause we're banning them." If this is your solution, then I urge you to-along with Pit Bull owners-contact AST, ASBT, Boxer, Great Dane, Bulldog, and any other semi 'pit' bull type dog owners and get their oppinion. Finally, do you really think a ban would stop Druggies, gangsters, "boys who think they're men by having a Pit Bull," type people from having their testosterone taken away? In highschool they called for a no smoking policy, and that worked-NOT! Unbelievably there are people who treat these dogs with undeniable love, care, and respect, so again don't blame the dog for it's deed, most of the time, blame the "human" on the other side of the leash.

If you really loved pit bulls, you'd want to stop their abuse, through any means necessary.
