It is cruel, cruel, cruel to put an older dog into a pound
In Response To: He's dead of course ()

I will say this again and again...older dogs do NOT survive a pound environment. I've seen older dogs die in pounds. Pounds, including SPCA pounds, are absolutely no less than a jail cell. WHY would the SPCA admit a dog this age? I could understand if Mister was a stray, but the SPCA's mandate should be to get an older dog OUT of a pound asap. It is cruel, cruel, cruel to put an older dog into a pound. (It's cruel enough to put a young dog into a pound.)

If a person comes in with their older dog (and yes, I understand it is hard to decide what the age should be of an older dog), it is waaaay more kind to tell the person to euthanize in warm and loving hands. Otherwise, the dog ends up dying on a cold, concrete floor alone.
I am not an advocate of euthanasia at all, and never will be...but people seem to think death is worse than going to a pound when you're an older dog....and it's not so.
