This is how large breed puppies are often advertised in the Lower Mainland. Over 500 litters a year.

FEAR SELLS DOGS Rottweilers, Pitbulls, Mastiffs, and other large breeds are advertised as "protective" because fear sells dogs. Too many of these puppies are sold as living alarm systems, left in a yard or on a rope with little chance of interaction with the world around them. These dogs are desocialized and unpredictable when they eventually get loose.

Citizens must be protected from irresponsible dog owners. Vicious attacks must be prevented, not
just reacted to. Our legislators owe it to us to regulate the conditions that dogs may be kept in.

The Animal Advocates Society of BC PUPPY TRAFFICKING DATA BASE has been tracking breeders and resellers of all types of dogs for nine months. Puppy traffickers in five municipalities are responsible for retailing 60% of the protection breed pups in the Lower Mainland. Nearly 40 litters of protection breed puppies a month are sold from Vancouver, Surrey, Mission, Langley, and Chilliwack. This is the only data base of its kind in Canada, perhaps in North America. The BC SPCA has twice been offered it but has not acknowledged our offer.

The type of dogs that mauled Shenica White are for sale throughout the Lower Mainland. All of the
ingredients for the next mauling are in place ... plenty of dogs, plenty of fearful people, and
regulations that are non-existent or not enforced.

Are elected officials and the BC SPCA waiting for a death before stopping this trade in dangerous dogs? Serious dog attacks are more common than most people realize (see more: http://www.animaladvocates.com/cgi-bin/newsroom.pl/read/1921)
