BC SPCA CEO Craig Daniell brought all this on himself and the SPCA when he was arrogant to Barbara Yaffe over his 2003 raid on the cat shelter run by Forgotten Felines (Who let the dogs out? http://www.animaladvocates.com/cgi-bin/newsroom.pl/read/3718) Instead of showing wisdom and tempering his inclination to bully, he antagonized Yaffe, a respected Sun columnist and Forgotten Felines volunteer when she questioned him about his inspector's actions and the SPCA's intentions.
The SPCA could get away with bullying real animal welfarists, but not the Vancouver Sun. It looks from the two-page spread and the huge photos that the Sun is going to keep making Daniell pay and pay and pay. Yaffe got Forgotten Felines founder, Penny March, on Rafe Mair and then was on herself. The Sun is now printing criticisms of the SPCA that it never printed before. Hubris has caused this, hubris of the CEO and of the board of directors who have given him his (swollen) head.
