Spay and Neuter is Animal Welfare

On one hand the BC SPCA is complaining about over-population and on the other the Society is busy adding to it. Instead of instituting programs that actually are animal welfare based the BC SPCA is continuing to attempt to find ways to kill its excess by instituting programs which excuse euthanasia with "psuedo-scientific" assessment tools.

The Kamloops SPCA has many puppies available for sale, none of which have been spayed or neutered. Yes, they come with a voucher to cover a small amount of the procedure but that will hardly ensure the dogs are sterilized.

For example:
Jenny is a unspayed female puppy. She is two months and two weeks old, and is from Chase. She is a Australian Kelpie mix,
There are two male and three female puppies, all German Shepherd Dog/Rough Collie cross. They are all two months and three weeks old.
Houdini just came out of foster care! She is an unspayed female, and is approximately a year old. She is housebroken, and likes kids. Houdini is an energetic Australian Cattle Dog/Doberman Pinscher mix, and has recently had a litter of puppies. Her foster family just loved her - she can sit, shake, come and sit pretty for you.
Doquel is a sweet unneutered male puppy. He is two months and three weeks old, and is an Australian Shepherd cross. He is from Kamloops.

In today's day and age there is simply no excuse for the BC SPCA not to be responsible for at least ensuring the spaying and neutering of the animals that the BC SPCA itself adopts out. This should be the bare minimum.

Sadly, the BC SPCA continue to settle for less.
