"We respond to complaints, but in this case we are not overly concerned. Perhaps we can work with her," Drever said.
"Work with her", like the SPCA "worked with" Penny March of Forgotten Felines?
For years some SPCA branches would phone Penny to tell her that they were about to kill a cat for being sick (usually the SPCA's infected facilities is what had made it sick), and she could "come and get it".
And Penny did, many, many times
So many times, that when Craig Daniell sent Eileen Drever and two other SPCA "enforcers" to raid Forgotten Felines, some of the cats that were still showing signs of illness were from the SPCA. Drever said that Penny's cats would be better off dead. The SPCA was threatening to kill the same cats twice. Isn't there a law against being convicted twice for the same crime? In this case, the crime of being a cat that got into the sightlines of the BC SPCA.
If you shelter animals - beware of SPCA Greeks bearing "gifts" of promises to "work with" you. Once they are in, it is their game and you and your animals are fair game!
