The SPCA declined the free services of an architect

I just read in today's Times Colonist that an architect has been engaged to design the shelter renovations in Victoria, estimated to be in the region of $300,000.

We have a fully qualified architect, who would be willing to do the work for free. He has never been asked.

He originally had offered to design and manage requirements for construction of our proposed shelter in Nanaimo and we, together with him, have done considerable work toward this project.
The value of his offer could mean a saving of around $200,000.

I was also chairman of the building committee (in Nanaimo).

However Head Office refused to issue him a preliminary contract, even though all his work would be without any architectural fee. Yet on a verbal basis they (H.O.) agreed that he would be accepted as the architect.

After reading the Times Colonist today, I phoned the architect and asked him if he would do the same kind of work for the Victoria shelter and he said "Yes, of course"

This is beyond comprehension.

No wonder things (at the BC SPCA) are going down hill fast.

It is unfortunate that the Society works in secret
As to capital fundraising, we here in Nanaimo, are completely handcuffed by the SPCA Head Office
