Shame on the System, shame on us...

In Response To: Can or should the BC SPCA be saved from itself? (AAS)

Every one of us, as human beings, has the tendency to take the easy and profitable way out, cut corners, be unethical or even break the law. What keeps us from doing it are not only self-respect and pride, but the laws that are in place, and the consequences we may face as a result. This is no difference with organizations, corporations, and other entities.
If some of us would be able to get away with things, time after time, how many of us would keep a straight life, I ask you? Are we not mad at our justice system for releasing repeat offenders with a slap on the wrist, or with no slap whatsoever, into an unsuspecting society over and over again?
So, why are we so mad at the SPCA then? They took the easy and profitable way out, cut corners, used their powers in ways that to most people find unethical, covered up whenever they could, promoted when it suited them... and every time got away with it, even when challenged with valid points that pointed to laws already in place, or laws that should be in place. How did they get away with all this. Because, despite efforts from numerous animal welfare groups, the system, the politicians we elected, and the governments consisting of such politicians and bureaucrats either did not pass the laws that needed to be passed, or did not enforce those in place.
That is where the pressure must be put on. The SPCA is just the piano player, and no one really cares whether it falls during a shootout or not. What matters is that the laws to scrutinize it, investigate it, keep it in line, and make it operate with fiscal responsibility - and open and honest principles - are passed and enforced vigorously. If that does not happen, the SPCA is the last one to blame. We are to blame, because - even with all the tools now available to us - we cannot come together and become a force to be reckoned with, and keep electing those, who have different views about what we have at heart.
Whether the SPCA will survive or not is one thing, but it will not change unless we do, in the way of electing those that keep tabs on this organization.

Anger is a waste of energy: I only ever wanted the corruption to end: AAS successes *LINK*
If the members do actually want change then they CAN make it happen through the existing system!
But what if the system is corrupt?
