The reason we raise this issue is because we got a phone call..

...one of dozens we get a week begging us to take a dog so that it doesn't have to be taken to the SPCA and be killed. (What does this wide-spead fear of the SPCA tell you about the SPCA?)

A family were moving and were trying to rehome their dog that they said was a really nice, sweet wolf hybrid that had been raised with children and was a very easy dog. Nevertheless, when they phoned the SPCA they were told that it would be euthanized as it was a wolf hybrid.

AAS is way over what ought to be its limit for dogs and so we gave this couple some leads to other groups (something the SPCA didn't bother to do).

The SPCA sanctimoniously says it does not judge dogs based on breed. But it would kill wolf hybrids, no judging at all

Wolf crosses are a good analogy for pit bulls
One more thing that still hasn't changed: The trigger-happy SPCA *LINK* *PIC*
