My husband and I considered the SPCA pet plan

My husband and I considered the SPCA pet plan, when it first came out, for animals that are left after their owners have died. Having concluded there were no guarantees our pets would be cared for the way we wanted (despite a suggested, at that time, $50,000 per animal) or even kept alive if they're weren't healthy and adoptable, we wrote a will in which all of our assets will go to another local animal charity (RCHS) which is already lovingly caring for animals whose owners have died and who we trust will care for our animals too. Having seen the number of animals in various shelters who are left behind after their owners have died, I believe it's imperative to make some provision for one's pets, even if you're not a senior or chronically ill.
