Real animal welfare is the same as child welfare: a child placed by the Children's Ministry cannot be passed onto someone else. The Ministry makes the decisions until the child is an adult at which time the child can decide where and with whom he or she will live.

Companion animals are never allowed to grow up as they would if they lived naturally. They must be kept as dependant on us as babies, so that they have no choice but to serve our needs. Because they never are allowed to grow up, anyone who brings one into the world or assumes parentage of it, has a life-time moral duty to its care.

One of the things the SPCA did for at least 50 years was to make millions of dollars in the used-pet shuffling business. It sold what was sellable, it killed what wasn't, or would cost more than just brief impound costs to make sellable. In fact, it is still doing that as it did when it killed 80 sick cats in Kamloops this month. And it sent out appeals for money with photos of animal pawns in the arms of their killers, in the arms of people that we know have killed or been responsible for killing hundreds of thousands of them. It defrauded animal-lovers out of millions of dollars a year when it did this. But what it did to the helpless animals in its "care" is what our fight with the SPCA is about, not the money.
