Animal Advocates Watchdog

Re: CNN SNUFF FILM
In Response To: CNN SNUFF FILM ()

I too saw the film footage of the suffering dog, but my question is, how can we truly speak out for the animals when we hide this kind of truth? Aside from those who might not believe the footage is true, and we should all be skeptical of everything we hear, I am all for showing the general public images of animal suffering. So many people who are blind to what goes on in slaughterhouses, laboratories, fur farms, etc. need to be reminded every now and again of the atrocities humans commit against animals, whether it be for food, fashion, or war.

A single graphic photo of a monkey strapped in a laboratory restraining device got me involved in animal rights activism about 15 years ago. Also, the reason I am so passionate about working to stop the seal hunt is almost entirely because of the unedited footage I have seen of seals being bashed on the head.

Hiding gruesome images will only contribute to the public's ignorance - we need to use the truth to get their heads out of the sand and open their eyes to what they have been ignoring for so long.

How many of us can attribute our awareness of what truly happened in the Nazi concentration camps to the disturbing images shown in books, magazines, and on TV?

We aren't going to get very far in our campaigns if we insist on sanitizing the truth about animal abuse.
