What are the lawmakers in BC waiting for? The death of a child? The mutilation of a child, Shenica White, was not enough for the City of Vancouver or the Province of BC to pass breed specific legislation like other cities have. So maybe the death of a child won't be enough either.

But how about if a victim sues the municipality for allowing the keeping of a dog of a known high-risk breed, especially if the dog has a record of dangerous behaviour such as these dogs may have? Would opening this up to the lawyers make legislators take action to protect citizens, especially children, who are the majority of victims.

The statistics are available: pit bulls do damage out of all proportion to their numbers. They were bred to attack without warning or provocation, to fight until one party is dead, to hang on in spite of being severely injured. The only surprise is that more pit bulls don't attack humans this way.

I hope this woman sues Chilliwack so that legislators will be more afraid of huge losses than they are of the hysterical pit bull lobby.
