Life for a Chained Dog

Dogs can live on just food and water. But to be happy, dogs need exercise and daily love and attention from their guardian.
You couldn't invent a worse punishment for a dog than keeping him permanently on a chain. Dogs are pack animals. They love to interact with other dogs and humans. Dogs want to eat, sleep, hunt and play in a pack. To isolate dogs by themselves, providing no outlet for interaction or exercise, is extremely cruel.
Can you imagine being chained to a tree for your whole life? Eating and sleeping and using the bathroom in one spot. No one to talk to, and nothing to play with. No freedom to move around. Cold in the winter and hot in the summer. Infested with fleas and ticks. That is the life for a chained dog.
