SAMPLE LETTER:

To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing to express my concerns about your company providing sponsorship to the Cloverdale Rodeo in British Columbia.
There is much documented evidence of physical injury and cruelty towards the animals who are forced to perform in rodeos, and I am disappointed that you would decide to financially back this event.

There are many other educated consumers like myself, who will choose not to spend their dollars buying products and services from corporations that continue to show support for events which exploit animals for human entertainment. Perhaps this was an acceptable way for companies to promote themselves in the 1970's and 80's, but today it is not.

I ask that in the future your company please reconsider its decision to support rodeos and other events like it, and to market yourself in a more progressive and sensitive manner.

Sincerely,

We also need to send a message to the Mayor and Council of Surrey at cipowell@city.surrey.bc.ca

BCSPCA policy statement is against rodeos!
I attended the Cloverdale Rodeo and witnessed a calf get his hind leg torn off
I know in Calgary
The SPCA only inspects the "public" part of rodeos
The SPCA policy is a sham
What has the SPCA done to prevent the cruelty to the animals at the Calgary Stampede - which is known to many of us as "Hillbilly Fest"?
Don't condemn me and others who know real life beyond Save-On-Foods
I too was raised in Alberta on a farm
Why don't you try protesting something else that really need to be addressed!

Any event, whether it be a circus or rodeo, that reinforces the oppression of animals
