Another email to Craig Daniell:
Craig,
I am writing you this letter to give 100% support to Amanda and the other volunteers who saved Cheechs’ life. I stand on my chair and applaud them with loud hoots and whistles. Finally an employee of the SPCA who actually is there ‘for the animals’.
I know the facts and this is another case of a fat headed Manager throwing her weight around at the expense of the animals. This is another clue that the people you having running your shelters really need to have ANIMAL BACKGROUNDS. Anyone with a ˝ ounce of knowledge would know that Cheech did nothing wrong - he was acting like a dog, that is what they do. Both my dogs have growled at other dogs and humans before - its normal and natural. And considering they too are rescues with horrendous abuse in their past just like Cheech, I think that is pretty damn good that that is ALL they have done. This is proof that his rehab was going FABULOUS!
All the dogs within the SPCA are there for a reason and they all have issues - but growling is certainly NOT an issue. As far as the ‘attacking’ the broom that was brought into his kennel by a male - he most likely (just like one of my rescues) was beaten by an object just like that by a male. DUH! How was he supposed to react? His natural instinct is to defend himself and that is what he did.
I truly hope (once again) that you REALLY think about the facts of this situation and see how wrong it is. For once stand up for the people who actually care. You also should be applauding Amanda and the volunteers for caring enough to stop this needless death. Maybe if you started supporting the right people, the volunteers and the very few employees who are actually there ‘for the animals’ the SPCA would be run better.
This is another opportunity for you to take a stand and admit this is wrong. You do not HAVE to back these people up just because of their position. I know you know this is wrong - how could you not?? PLEASE take a stand and say enough is enough so that the needless killing of adoptable animals STOPS. Cheech was lucky. But what about the others??
“BCSPCA speaking for animals” - really? I’m pretty sure if you asked Cheech he wouldn’t say he wanted to die.
