The months or maybe years of stress, depression and anxiety that these animals feel can't possibly be something we should be adding to our own bodies

Years ago I was looking into what would be best to feed my cats to meet their nutritional needs. I came to find out that there is a lot of junk in mainstream pet foods. This led me to start thinking about where our meat came from. The information I found on the internet was depressing to say the least. I was horrified to see how we treat the animals we use for meat that we eat. These poor beings are brought in to this world only to provide a meal for us and for that they suffer from the minute they come to life 'til they are brought to an anguish filled death. I think most people don't really come to think about this, probably because most people could not conceive of such treatment going on in today's world. I immediately decided that I had to stop eating meat soon after that I slowly phased out fish as well and although it took some time to get used to, I couldn't be happier about my choice and now feel healthier than before. There are so many healthy non meat options available that it's very easy to pass by the meat isle. The irony is that going back to the research I did on what to feed my cats, their needs require meat so I only ever buy them certified organic free range chicken. This does cost a bit more but if an animal must die for our consumption it should never have to suffer, after all, what is appealing about eating something that needed to be pumped full of antibiotics and hormones just to get it to survive it's disgusting life. On top of that, the months or maybe years of stress, depression and anxiety that these animals feel can't possibly be something we should be adding to our own bodies.
