A budding vegan, or a master of denial?

I am currently living on a farm where goats roam quite freely and are well treated.
They are all females, so they are impregnated at a neighbouring farm, and their milk is used as is, and for cheese.
They will however, be slaughtered for food at some point.
(If you've never known a goat, they are lovely, funny, individuals).
The "food" rabbits are kept in hutches, and are wary of people.
The chickens and roosters are free range, and most people here eat their eggs, before they too, are slaughtered for consumption.
Recently, I was visiting with the almost-nine year old boy, who also lives here.
I asked him if he prefers the country or the city.
He replied, strongly, that he does not approve of this country food.
He said, "They kill their animals, and they expect me to eat them! I do not approve of that! I want grocery store meat!"
I explained that the goats and chickens at least seem to be having happy lives here (didn't talk about the rabbits), and said that the meat that comes from the grocery store almost invariably comes from animals who have endured miserable lives.
"I don't care", replied my young friend. You should not kill someone you know! I do not approve!
A budding vegan, or a master of denial, I'm not sure yet.
