Kathi Travers is an animal expert and freelance writer.
She owned, trained, and bred thoroughbred race horses in New York and Maryland before working with the ASPCA and WSPA.
At the ASPCA, Travers was the Director of Animalport at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, a support facility housing animals in transit. She also served as the ASPCA’s Special Director of Animal Affairs, Exotic Animals and Animal Transportation.
While with WSPA, Ms Travers personally coordinated and led efforts to rescue abandoned animals on the island of Montserrat, which was being devastated by an active volcano.
As one of the leading exotic animal consultants, Ms Travers has worked with prominent institutions, such as the Bronx Zoo, the San Diego Zoo, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Fish & Wildlife, Public Health and Customs, various state departments of environmental conservation, the Washington Primate Clearing House, veterinarians, and numerous animal welfare organizations on projects to help place rescued or injured animals.
Kathi sat on the board of the Prince George SPCA and was recently elected as a Director of the BCSPCA representing the region of Prince George and the Peace Region.
