On August 4th we wrote Marcie Moriarty, the BC SPCA's Manager of Cruelty Investigations, about a dog that the SPCA sold and was now on a cable. Our email was rejected unread.

Subject: "Bubba" - chained dog sold by the Burnaby SPCA
August 4, 2006
Dear Ms Moriarty,
Animal Advocates has been told that a dog (named "Bubba") that is on a cable (address removed), was sold to the owner by the Burnaby SPCA. Our informant phoned the Burnaby SPCA around July 10th and spoke to Debbie (the person at the Burnaby SPCA who "does" adoptions) who confirmed that the Burnaby SPCA had adopted a dog (name removed), but that (name removed) didn't give (address removed) when she adopted Bubba. Debbie said that now that she had this information, she would initiate an investigation.
As of yesterday, Bubba was still chained. And I was told that there is sometimes a second dog chained there now.
I wonder if you could please investigate this matter and confirm what Debbie said. I hope you will see that Bubba is taken back by the SPCA and rehomed ethically. AAS would be pleased to pay the rehabilitation expenses for Bubba and help to rehome him. I look forward to your earliest response,
Judy Stone
