Given that:
"The Board of the BC SPCA approved both the SPCA's dog bite liability tests. It is so afraid of being sued that it is killing dogs just in case.",and
Given that:
Of the seventeen dogs currently listed on Petfinder as available for adoption at the Vancouver Branch of the BC SPCA (plus Tequila and Deeda not yet listed), all are a mix of German Shepherd, Rottweiler and Pit Bull breeds. At least half of this number are designated as risks to small children and some of those are among the six which are designated as risks to dogs, cats, or other small animals. And,
Given that:
"From the CYA web site: On January 24th and 25th 2002 the BCSPCA's Vancouver shelter had ample room, yet six friendly, healthy dogs were killed."
Annie, pictured below while at the BC SPCA Vancouver Branch was one of the innocent six that were killed. Therefore,
I believe my fear for the lives of Wizard, Chloe, Greta, Butch, Duke, Max, Lucy, Winston, Zsa-Zsa, Cottin, Bullet, Nea, Brandy, Barney, Abby, Tasha, Meeka, Deeda and Tequila is reasonable and well founded. Based on historical decisions made by the BC SPCA Vancouver Branch, the dogs and pups named above, which are not friendly, easily adoptable and emotionally healthy, have special needs and are, in my opinion, in danger of being killed, possibly in the very near future.
We need to be vigilant, outspoken, visible and pro-active to protect these dogs and pups. They need only time in safe, loving, consistent and breed experienced homes, permanent or foster, to be saved from being tragically killed as Ace, Annie, Mocha, Monee, Mac and Shasta were.
We must not remain silent and allow this senseless and selfish killing to continue.
