Re: What training do SPCA Special Provincial Constables have?

"At trial, when asked what his training was that qualified him to determine what animals ought to be seized, Kuich admitted he had none."

Reading this I am simply flabbergasted.
How can the BC SPCA explain not training those people who are in charge of Cruelty Investigation.
This is the main mandate that the BC SPCA is charged with and a very solemn responsibility.

Animal Control is simple. It exists to protect humans from dogs.
A dog at large is impounded. If the owner pays the fine the dog goes home.
If not, the dog is adopted out or euthanised.
A dangerous dog is either surrendered for euthanasia or held for a court decision.
Very black and white.

Animal Welfare is based on so much more.
An Animal Welfare Society protects animals from people and must portray the highest standards in all they do.
The BC SPCA is supposed to be an Animal Welfare Society.
Without appropriate training how are Cruelty Investigators to know when there is something seriously wrong?
How are they to determine when to issue a simple order to improve or when to seize as the animal involved is in imminent danger?
This must be remedied.
