Some BC people have been gathering info about problems with their SPCA for about 5 yrs and trying to make changes. They have brought to light some of the same issues (and worse ones)that 20/20 revealed but because they wouldn't keep quiet about it all the SPCA launched a defamation law suit against them. Nice huh? You'd think the powers-that-be at the top of the SPCA would want these kinds of problems to be stopped and things to be better. But nope, they'd rather spend money to shut the nay-sayers up and keep things the way they have always been. Some interesting reading here about it:

These type of lawsuis are called SLAPP SUITS. They are geared to keep someone's mouth shut. Those with big dollars use them to CONTROL the victims. They are against the Law in California. Don't know about Canada. There is a motion that can be filed that stops the suit and will sanction the SPCA and make them pay all costs and damages to those people if there is an ANTI-SLAPP law there.
