I wonder what will be next, half price sales, buy one & get one for free? Again, I certainly hope SPCA shelter staff's first and foremost concern will be on placing the animals in quality homes as opposed to a quantity of homes.

As I stated in an earlier post, these ads had such wonderful potential for education, spay/neuter promotion etc. How many new adopters will adopt on impulse only to realize they can't afford the additional costs associated with owning a pet, costs such as food and veterinary care? Indicators may be:

1) a notable increase in people asking shelters for pet food,

2) an increase in surrenders,

3) more cases of abandonment.
