Re: Selling and killing sick animals: Dot survives the pestilent Surrey SPCA

Interestingly enough, I adopted a dog from the Surrey SPCA at the beginning of March. He is a beautiful purebred Rottweiler, but he was also given to me as a sick dog. In fact, he was extremely sick--sneezing mucus and blood everywhere! He had already been treated for kennel cough for two weeks, and it took another two weeks and a trip to our vet to get him healthy. He just was not getting better at the SPCA and was in and out of isolation. It seems to me that he might have had more of a case of distemper rather than kennel cough as he was really not coughing that much. So are these animals being misdiagnosed as well and receiving the wrong medication? Our vet put him on a completely different type of med than the SPCA had him on. We were told that he would get better at home with us (which he indeed did) and we were given medication for him. If I could adopt every animal at the shelter, I would. Thank God we adopted Koda before the mass euthanisation Surrey pulled at the end of March for kennel cough (or was it really distemper). Is this their idea of controlling the disease? I could go on forever about how frustrating this is, as I am sure most of us can...
