"Spokesperson Lorie Chortyk says the woman was known to them as someone running an independent animal rescue and while they had concerns about what Chortyk says was a clear case of animal hoarding, there had been no formal complaints lodged against her."
Word is that Chortyk is denying calling Bev Parent a "hoarder" as quoted on CKNW news on Wednesday (as if CKNW just made that up!).
Now she'll have to deny that she ever said that the SPCA had never had a complaint about Parent.
If CKNW didn't have serious doubts about the SPCA's credibility before, it certainly will have them now.
Chortyk is supposed to protect and improve the SPCA's image, but she repeatedly does it more harm than any other SPCA employee. Yet the CEO keeps her. Sadly or comically, depending on your mood, the CEO vies with Ms Chortyk for self-inflicted P.R. damage to the SPCA.
