Cat Rescue on Chilliwack Reserves

Giving will make good things happen for these reserve cats.
Make a donation to AAS marked "For Cats" and we will apply your donation to cat bills. Costs of Reserve Cat Rescue have been over $3,200 to date. We can keep our compassionate work of stopping the suffering that the big, multi-million dollar organization isn't helping on these reserves, if you will only help us by donating to cat rescue.

Report from the on-site rescuer...

"I was told that they are a bunch of cats on one of the reserves near Chilliwack. I went to one  last night and knocked on one of the doors offering to spay/neuter the cats. The woman said they were her sister's son's cats and she would have to ask him. I gave her my phone number so if I don't hear back in a day or two, I will make another visit. I put down some food so that the cats would come out of hiding. There were several adults and about 5 older kittens. There were also some timid ones who were hiding and ran as I approached them. I hope they will allow me to help these cats.  I can trap/neuter/ release/ feed the feral ones as well."

The trapper/rescuer will be doing all the work and AAS will be paying all the bills.  We are hoping that we will be allowed to rehome the tame cats.  Please let us know if you can foster or adopt one of these reserve cats before they are dead as happens to all of them sooner or later, usually sooner from disease or predators.

Sylvester

The compassionate on-site cat rescuer on a Reserve near Chilliwack BC that started her work in 2009 and continues to this day.

The dedicated rescuer has befriended a reserve family who are accepting of her help.  At last, progress is being made! Gwen is doing the hard-slogging work, AAS is paying the bills, and the family are going to keep the cats inside so that no more are eaten by coyotes, hit by cars, or die of diseases.

Eight cats have been neutered, vaccinated, and tattooed for a cost of over $1,200.

1. Spayed: Sylvester, a 5 year old mom who was pregnant.

2.  Spayed: Sylvester 'II' is her black and white one year old daughter who was also pregnant.

3.  Neutered: Batman: 5 month old kitten.

4.  Neutered: Smokey Joe, the grey older tomcat, was neutered and released.

5.  Spayed: Tabby, a tabby female who is FIP positive and I currently am taking care of her.

6&7.  Spayed and Neutered: Two white and black kittens.  One is a female who was pregnant. The other is a male.

8.  Neutered: Spike is the wonderful and friendly fluffy charcoal male.

All of the cats were spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and tattooed.  An unknowable number of cats have been spared being born to be coyote food, being hit by cars, or suffering lingering deaths of diseases simply by spaying these four females, but a safe estimate covering only two litters in one year (Spring and Fall) of three female kittens each is about 45 new, unwanted cats, spared meaningless births and deaths. Just as importantly, a trusting, grateful  connection has been made with a resident family who will contact Gwen as more cats show up.  They too will be spayed and neutered, saving countless hundreds of lives.

Fritz

Crazy Kitten and Fritz were tame enough to rehome but Jetta was truly feral and had to be put back out where the rescuer will make sure she is fed and any health problems taken care of. AAS paid for all the bills for Crazy, Jetta, and Fritz, thanks to our cat-loving donors.
