October 26, 2005
For the third time this year, the Kamloops SPCA has been hit by Feline Distemper. Last Monday, the SPCA found a stray cat on the North Shore. It was placed in isolation but died 2 days later. An autopsy confirmed it was Feline Distemper. SPCA Executive Director Jennifer Gore says the disease has spread -- with two more cats dying this morning. In June, 90 cats were put down after an outbreakd of distemper. The SPCA will be disinfected again and will be shutdown until Monday.

Kamloops SPCA to kill 60 cats
I took a distemper cat from the infected Vernon SPCA and it didn't occur to me to kill her
And what if it were 60 dogs?

Will 100% of the cats be killed this time?
Ho Hum, out with the old, in with the new
"Shelter, anything serving as a shield or protection from danger"
Why kill vaccinated cats?

40, 50, 60... and more? Excess cats are as big a pest problem in most of BC as rats and mice are
"We will not turn an animal away"- a great business slogan
A more fitting slogan could read "easy and effortless disposal"
"No Interest" - "No Service Charges" - "Easy Payment Plan" - "After Sales Service"
It seems to me that shelters which safeguard health should be one of the highest priorities
