It's disheartening to see that the Prince Rupert Branch of the BC SPCA has decided to hold a Crab Fest Fundraiser on August 27th.
Exactly how does the BC SPCA plan to encourage humane treatment of animals when it allows crabs to be boiled alive? Does this mean that the BC SPCA is content to limit its efforts in animal welfare to saying the right thing, but not necessarily doing the right thing?
A Cruelty-Free Fundraising Event would seem so much more fitting for an organization that regularly uses words such as humane, caring, freedom from pain, and cruelty prevention.
