Cat euthanasia is a sad reality
Oct 24 2006
The most basic duty of any organization taking care of animals is to respect the wishes of those who give it their support.
It is all the sadder when one of the oldest and best known of these organizations, the SPCA, brings death to the very animals it is supposed to be helping.
The letter from Neila Schmidt, recounting how the SPCA destroyed four innocent kittens left in its care (The News, Oct. 6) is striking evidence that even the best of intent does not ensure kindness to animals.
