To Maisie... With Love

From cold, lonely, misery to warmth and love

Dogs like Maisie were rescued because of the generosity of donors like you. But there are more dogs who need rescuing.

This is what AAS was told by a woman who was desperate for our help for a suffering dog.

“One day, as I took my dog for a walk in a town I was visiting, I saw a white Husky in the snow, chained to a small disgusting doghouse which was surrounded by body-holes that the dog had dug.

“I wondered if this dog ever got off this chain so I checked it out by going over at 7 in the morning, 2 in the morning, noon, and late afternoon and realized that this dog was never taken for a walk, or taken off the chain, or taken inside.

“I saw her in cold rain and snow, sitting there, so dejected with her head down, that I started to cry. I patted her and gave her treats and secretly called her Maisie after my dear old dog who had died many years ago.

“I contacted the SPCA and learned that they had had more calls on this dog than any other. They said there was nothing they could do because the dog had food, water, and shelter.”

"I whispered to her, ‘You will not be here much longer if I have anything to do with it’, and then I told Animal Advocates about her.

“Shortly after, Maisie was in my arms. Now she has all the comforts of home and pals to love. She has a large, foam mattress that I covered, and she stretches out on that end to end.

“In the year that I have had her, even through the hot summer, she has never slept outside one single night.  I walk her every day, and she loves it.  She is now spoiled rotten and I often wonder if she can remember her life before she came to me.”
