This whole animal shuffling business is not going to solve the problem of overpopulation and will at best only be a very temporary band aid.
If, years from now, the BCSPCA is still in operation, (a real question in itself), and it has not made major changes to its policies, the same thing will still be happening and the animals will still be shuffled around and around and NOTHING will really have changed.
On the other hand, if the SPCA made a real effort to get some s/n mobile vans going, worked diligently with the vets in all areas of the province and came to some reasonable arrangements, got the media on side to promote s/n, and finally led the way by showing that they were putting s/n as one of their top priorities then maybe some real improvements could be made.
The BCSPCA just doesn't seem to get the message and I expect that the problem of overpopulation will not greatly improve in the years to come. How sad, when the key to the problem seems to be so obvious to almost everyone else!
