Does the SPCA just pull its stats out of a hat?

Not so long ago the SPCA's spin mistress was saying that the SPCA kills only 1% of dogs among various and sundry other figures she and others have quoted over the years. Sometimes the SPCA boasts that the numbers are down, and sometimes it whines that they are up, it seems to depend on whose idea of P.R. is being used.

Until there is verifiable and consistent figures, confirmed by an oversight body, no intelligent adult can be expected to trust the SPCA's figures.

For all we know, the SPCA may be putting this figure out so that it can claim a roaring success after the Prince George clinic has been operating a year.

Who ever knows with the SPCA? It only reacts, and reaction can't be trusted as it is usually fear-driven.
