Second - the fake "Cruelty Prevention" arm of the animal disposal industry

All the members of the Cruelty Prevention Industry, the SPCAs and Humane Societies, made lots of money for decades off their fake Animal Welfare businesses which combined animal disposal contracts with municipalities with pet disposal for the public. But in the last ten years that income has been seriously eaten into by the competition - the people, almost 100% of them women who had no idea (and largely still have no idea) that the SPCAs they hated and whose blatant cruelty they were baffled by, were only taking care of business.

In BC, the SPCA had to start looking hard at what the competition was doing to drain off a million dollars a year. Serious money was going elsewhere. In Richmond, Al Beer donated a large piece of property and money to Richmond Homeless Cats. All over BC, groups were doing the real work and the public was increasingly sending its money to them.

First the SPCA showed its real persona by sending its goons to try to intimidate and shut down some of the competition, rescuers who were not keeping animals in cages, had "too many" because they wouldn't reduce their unsold stock by killing it, and in some cases, were actually harbouring animals that they had saved from death at an SPCA. (The Raid on Madalynn Gilmore: http://www.animaladvocates.com/spca-100-years.htm)

Thug tactics blew up in the SPCA's face, starting with the raid on Forgotten Felines ( http://www.animaladvocates.com/Watchdog/ForgottenFelines.htm ) culminating in Craig Daniell's heel being brought down on Amanda Muir and the volunteers at the Delta SPCA who wouldn't follow his orders to kill Cheech. It is hard to imagine a more blatantly stupid and revealing incident of every last vile thing the SPCA does than the Cheech incident: it paints the whole picture of SPCA brutality and falsehood and how real animal welfarists have to lie and steal and sneak and lose their jobs to save animals from the SPCA. (The Cheech Incident: http://www.animaladvocates.com/CHEECH/index.htm).

We don't know where "Cruelty Prevention", the latest marketing strategy, originated, but as with any successful business plan, what works gets imitated. Alldoglover listed the way this business plan works. The BC SPCA hired Craig Daniell to implement it. That's it - it's as simple as that. The BC SPCA can't even be credited with being innovative. It just copied what a lot of the other big players were doing to increase revenues.

We don't know what others will do to end the tyranny and abuse of animals and power where they live, but in BC we are going to make sure it ends. The Legislature will have to re-examine the trust it placed in the honesty, decency, and compassion of the BC SPCA.
