POM PUPPYMILL RESCUE

Pomeranian Puppymill Rescue

Mary Rose

Mary Rose: 15 year old female
Medical Needs:
Health Exam, Pain Meds, Deworming, Advantage, Palliative Support.

"Mary Rose” is very old, very tiny, and very neglected.  Neglected to the point of abuse.  Mary Rose is just one of the 60 or so other little victims of greed who were brought out of the filthy conditions they existed in by a very kind and very effective rescuer.  In all, she got seven of the very sickest out, groomed, and vet care started.

When she was at the mill, Mary Rose walked with her head down and straight out or slanted to the side...NEVER held up like she does now.  We thought perhaps she had some arthritis in her neck that was causing the strange head-down posture, until we observed the puppy mill operator grabbing dogs by the neck and hoisting them into the air from a standing height.

Her whole attitude and posture changed the minute I gave her a bath and cleaned her ears.

Itchy, dirty ears

Mary Rose's coat was brittle and flakey. She was missing hair on her back. She did not have any skin parasites to cause this condition but was very poorly nourished and filthy dirty.

When shaving off Mary Rose's matted filthy coat, veterinary staff were shocked beyond belief to find a CKC tattoo on Mary Rose's flank.

...and then a lovely warm bath for Mary Rose.

She actually started to lift her head up a little bit for the first time since I saw her at the puppy mill. Amazing how a girl feels after a day at the beauty salon.

Mary Rose...
happy and alert. Finally lifting her head up to look at life again. Her eyes were so incredibly expressive...they actually twinkled she was so happy.

"I'm gorgeous. Now would someone tell that fool to get me a different coloured coat. I'm a girl for Pete's sake."

Look at how tall she was sitting in this picture!!! She was blast...such a character once she was warm and clean. Don’t you try and tell her she's 15 years old. She'll tell you where to go.

Aha!!! A red coat!!! Much more appropriate for a beautiful young lady like Mary Rose.

Mary Rose is nothing short of remarkable, resilient, resoundingly forgiving...a perfect red rose. She is in a new home - a real home - where she is loved and cared for as she should be.

Mary Roses's new family has found as all those who take and damaged dog into their homes and hearts, that the dog is the most loved dog of all...

Mary Rose sends her love, and says that her new mom can't figure out what she really is - a big brave dog, or just another cat, only really small ; )
I call this picture second supper as she always goes back for more.  It's impossible to get a picture of her without her head down in a dish of food.  I just love this spunky old girl.  She bears a strong character resemblance to the cartoon persona Maxine!!!  She makes me laugh every single day.
All is well - thank you for Mary Rose!"
