Munchkin at the mill. Dirty and afraid of all the bigger intact male dogs. Very badly scarred corneal abrasions.  I believe him to be blind. Smallest of the 5 dogs...about 3 pounds.  Crusty debris down the front of his chest, no teeth left. Frightened if picked up. Very anxious little dog. Still used for breeding.

Munchkin being lifted to freedom.
In the early spa stages Munchkin looks like...well...we're not really sure. Oh dear.
Munchkin after his bath and haircut discovering the wonderful world outdoors.

"Tuffy":
Serious untreated eye injury, coat matted to the skin, fleas. Very sweet, cuddley. Still used for breeding.
His coat was matted to the skin.  The vet tech and I had to use a number 40 blade to get his coat off.  It came off in a clump...just like shearing sheep.
Tuffy is finally squeaky clean Eye enucleation is next.
Tuffy at his foster home. Having a bath to prepare for the next day's eye surgery. What a good boy!

Munchkin and Tuffy's new family have found what everyone finds who adopts a rescued dog - the bond is more profound than with any dog they have had before.  It is uplifting and unforgettable - as Munchkin and Tuffy's devoted family found...

Little Munchkin is virtually blind and lives in a world of shadows out of one eye.  He gets up every few minutes to come and sniff my leg…so afraid that I might be gone.  He repeats this over and over again. Once satisfied, back he goes to bed.  His sense of smell is great and hearing good.
I have purchased a wonderful baby carrier that is perfect for him and he is so happy to “ride” with me most of the day.  Oddly enough, he more often than not, sleeps upright.  It is the oddest thing, but he will lean upwards, even in his bed.
Tuffy is young and finding his inner child.  He has discovered playing with toys, running, and playing.  He is very proud of himself at moments, but easily goes back to being frightened of every move.  He is gaining confidence in himself and learning there is no trouble here.
I have loved so many along the way, but there is something different here.  It is a different kind of intense bond, and they acted as if they knew they were “home” from the very beginning.  They have brought real joy to our lives and our home.

I can't tell you how deeply these little guys have crawled into our hearts.  Timid, shy, uncertain, yet courageous. We are crazy in love with them.  Thank you sooooo much for changing the world.
