"Forced" to kill cats? Wake up Kamloops Daily News. Who is holding a gun to their heads? Nothing can force anyone to do what is immoral. Even people being tortured have refused to kill another person. We are merely seeing how a business policy of unlimited intake works. Take all the free product that is offered; sell the sellable; kill the unsellable. Killing cost only a few cents.
According to the SPCA, even after killing 60 of them, there are still 190 cats at the Kamloops facility. There were perhaps 20 really good homes in a month for those 250 cats and the SPCA keeps taking more. There is no cat-fairy to wave a magic wand and put all those cats into good homes, so it only stands to reason that the SPCA has to dispose of the excess some way.
The SPCA's age-old solution to no space is to kill off all a lot of losers to make space for more free product that might be more sellable. Unlimited intake cannot operate any other way. Unless the Kamloops SPCA is doing titre tests on every cat, it is killing cats who have had vaccines and who are immune to distemper. This is the BC SPCA's unlimited intake business plan at work.
