Tracking the SPCA contradicting itself over why it kills. Oh what a tangled web... *LINK*

April 29th: Daniell says the SPCA kills for colds.
From the Vancouver Sun: "A Prison Camp for Animals" by Barbara Yaffe: April 29, 2004
"Daniell acknowledged that a lack of resources would be a factor that could lead to euthanasia, especially if such a circumstance were combined with other factors such as the animal suffering from a cold and/or an inability to adopt the animal out. "A lack of resources" is killing for space "Suffering from a cold" is not euthanasia because a cold is easily treatable.

October 8th: SPCA P.R. person says the SPCA kills for space
Surrey Leader, Oct. 8/04: "BC SPCA spokesperson Lorie Chortyk said many healthy and highly adoptable puppies, kittens and other potential pets are euthanized each year because shelters in remote communities are often full to capacity and do not have a large enough population to provide homes for them. They are overwhelmed by the number of animals being surrendered and abandoned."

October 28th Richmond News: Daniell says the SPCA does not kill for colds or space
"The shelter does not euthanize healthy, adoptable animals or because of lack of space In her letter to Richmond council, Reichert alleges the B.C. SPCA kills animals "when they have treatable, minor ailments like colds." This is not correct. "

Oh what a tangled web we weave.... AAS would much rather support an honest SPCA doing honest animal welfare and honest cruelty prevention, than spend so much time untangling the SPCA's web of lies.

Oh those pesky employees, they can't even keep straight a simple thing like "what's today's policy on who we kill for what?"
Internationally recognized animal welfare and rehabilitation programs?
Killing cats for being the wrong colour: Let's not forget how much progress we have all forced the SPCA to make
Through the use of one word i.e. policy, wiggle room is created
BC SPCA Policy #3: EUTHANASIA for space
"Euthanasia" is anything but "gentle" for feral cats
Let's get this straight - the SPCA hardly ever practices "euthanasia". It kills
Start calling a spade a spade and maybe the media will at last "get it"
I agree
Three years after branch amalgamation for consistency and still no consistency

Mr Daniell: do cats get colds or don't they?
In 2002 the number of animals killed was enormously higher than what the public was led to believe
"Euthanasia" justification from the SPCA's manual
